How old do I need to be to take this course?
You must be at least 16 years old to take the Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment. This is because the qualification is designed for those entering the construction industry, where 16 is the minimum age for most entry-level roles.
When can I start the course?
You can start immediately after purchase. There’s no need to wait.
How is the course structured?
The course content is split into individual sections, with each section concluding in an end-of-section assessment. All sections and assessments must be completed to start the regulated exam.
How do I take my regulated exam?
Once you have completed all course modules, you can take your regulated exam. Before starting, make sure you have:

Valid photographic ID (passport, driving licence, or provisional licence)

A quiet, private space free from interruptions

A stable internet connection on a desktop or laptop

At least 60 minutes of uninterrupted time
You will show your ID at the start of the exam to verify your identity. Once started, the exam cannot be paused or restarted.
You do not need to use your camera or microphone while taking this course exam.
What ID do I need?
You must have a valid photo ID, such as a passport, driving licence, or provisional licence, to verify your identity before starting the exam.
Can I use my notes during the exam?
No — this is a closed-book exam. You can, however, revise as much as you like beforehand using the course content.
What happens if I fail the exam?
If you do not achieve a passing score, you may retake the course exam as many times as necessary at no additional cost.
What happens when I pass my regulated exam?
Once you pass your course, you’ll receive your official qualification certificate download. If you’re taking the Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment, you can then book and pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) touchscreen test. After completing both, you’ll be able to apply for your Green Labourer CSCS Card to work on construction sites.

Important: This course is mandatory to get your Green Labourer CSCS Card. Both the regulated qualification and the CITB touchscreen test are required to successfully apply for your Green Labourer CSCS Card.
How long is my certificate valid?
You do not need to retake the course once you’ve successfully completed it, as the certificate itself does not expire.

Is there a time limit on this course?
The exam must be passed within 12 months of them being assigned the course. There is no time limit on the course material, so once the exam has been passed, students can freely revisit the course content and refresh their knowledge.
