Now onto the star of Easter: chocolate.
Whether you’re receiving it, gifting it, or hoarding it like a dragon guarding treasure, you’ll be pleased to know that chocolate is surprisingly low‑maintenance. If your Easter egg has turned white, don’t worry — it isn’t mould, just a harmless ‘bloom’ caused by temperature changes, and the chocolate is still perfectly safe to enjoy.
In fact, chocolate doesn’t expire — it simply has a best‑before date. Which means:
Dark chocolate can last up to two years unopened.
Milk and white chocolate last around one year unopened.
Once opened, they can still last months if stored properly — ideally in a cool, dark cupboard, not the fridge (unless you enjoy chocolate with the texture of gravel).
So if you’re still working through last year’s Easter stash… you might actually be fine. No judgement here.
